COPLAND VALLEY:**** A true West
coast bush walk to Douglas Rock hut. A strenuous alpine scramble in
tussock, rock and snow leads to Copland pass (2150 m), splendid views of
the Cook area. On the way back soak in the (luxurious) Welcome flat hut
hot pools for relaxing.
Going over Copland
pass is a mountaineering expedition requiring, ice axe, crampons and rope,
that is not to be taken lightly.
