This beautiful trip can be done many ways
according to time, energy and money available. We have chosen the easy
way, walk down to Lake Alabaster, jet boat down Lake McKerrow, day walks
from Martins Bay and fly back to Hollyford airstrip. |

For the whole walk down, the Darran Mountains dominate

Big Bay, a day trip on the steps of Dave Gunn
|

Martins Bay sand bar, settlers survived for a short time here, but difficult
land and sea communications prevented any large scale development.

The trip back is
a great flight over the bay, then above lake McKerrow to end by a search
for a clearance though the clouds to locate Hollyford International
Airport, nicely waiting for us beside the riverbank. |
